Breakfast & Banners | KwaZulu Natal North - Last Rally To Read of 2012

2nd June 5am. Its an early start for the Donnellys today at St Ives. We have a few hours to finish the preparations and get the venue ready for the arrival of the 6 teams of 180 sponsors. This is the last Rally of 2012 and we are privileged to have some very special guests including members of the European Space Agency. Working with READ education trust and Rally To Read they will be  instigating a very exiting project linking all 12 schools with satellite technology. This will enable a host of advantages for these very remote schools in the KZN area including on-line teacher training and the networking and sharing of educational information.

Its a lovely sunny morning as the mists clear from the lakes surround this great venue.
The teams start to arrive one by one as Iris the Rallys Co Ordinator guides each car to their allotted spaces.

Theres a great atmosphere here at our briefing today as the teams get to know each other over breakfast. Phil Donnelly and Eugene Roden from Bidvest Financial Services give a brief outline of the days events whilst Nombulelo from READ explains exactly what we will be delivering.

A total of 6 teams will be taking educational equipment to 2 schools in the KwaZulu Natal Region. This time round I'm travelling with team 3 headed by our team leader Mark Paton, as we prepare to leave theres time for a quick shot of the whole KZN North crew before joining our respective teams for our individual briefings, then we're off!
